I do believe we are getting a lot of Sonny coming up. Even about.com who has always been a very legitimate site posted a few months ago about Justin and Adrienne getting more airtime because of a meaty story with Sonny. Freddie didn't lie last year. They were initially supposed to bring on a guy for Sonny but they never did as it seems MarDar wasn't interested in him nor his family. So Freddie was only reporting what was supposed to happen but never said it was happening for a fact. But Freddie specifically stated in the interview that he had been working non stop and that what is coming up ties him to so many different characters and that Sonny has as lot of story coming up. He wasn't speaking about something in the future like those other interviews...he was talking about things he has actually taped. Why would he say what he knows for a fact when it doesn't play out that way coming up? That would make no sense IMO. I don't see Will and Sonny's romance playing out front burner as no romance does. But I do believe there is another story coming with the romance playing secondary to that. LonePirate...I try to put Chandler's interviews to rest but it's becoming harder and harder to ignore. I still have to wonder if this is Chandler or his publicist talking? Either way it's not printing a very colorful picture of Chandler in the eyes of many fans. I like this post a lot. It's coming from someone who loves the idea of a Will/Sonny relationship BUT also gets how it might not be the best relationship story told. It's been my problem with the pairing all along. Will/Sonny feel too "safe", and "safe" is quite often boring. They won't know what to do with Will/Sonny after they are together other than "backburnering" them or writing them off. Edited by cyndabell, Jul 28 2012, 11:21 AM.

If the previous, previous regime had has its way, Sonny and Will would have fallen in love on their first date and then had nothing to do. Days didn't know what do to with Patch/Kayla and Jack/Jennifer after they got together back in the day, so I can't imagine what they would have done with Wilson after that. Now, we have a totally different - and completely believable as the son of Sami and Lucas - Will. He's morally ambiguous, greedy for money and power but also loving to his family and friends (besides Sami which is more complicated). We have hints that Sonny has a history of dysfunctional relationships. Currently, there's no good reason for Sonny to be pining after Will the way he is except that the heart wants what it wants, which is very soapy. If I were Sonny's bff, I would be telling him to stay the hell away from Will and go find Brian. But, this all could end up with some soapy story. I recently rewatched Nuke on Youtube, and it was totally perils of Pauline. Until they decided to cast Reid as a spoiler who actually had potential to spoil (which was an ATWT staple), it was a never ending round of Luke and Noah winding up in the hospital. But Days doesn't really do that kind of story anymore. If you're not involved in a love triangle or being screwed with by Stefano, you're out of luck. Honestly, if I were writing it, I'd have Sonny get pissed off about Will's crush on EJ. I'd have Will realize his error, just as Sonny's ex returns to town. And I'd have Will spend MONTHS scheming to break them up. |

I certainly share your views here. Sonny and Brian is far more interesting to me right now that Sonny and Will. They seem to be far closer to the same maturity and acceptance level than Sonny and Will. They could have been fun and hot. The writers, unsurprisingly, missed a great opportunity to have Sonny distance himself from Will due to the Will and EJ stuff. It's as if things are out of sync here by several months. Sonny's feelings towards Will should have surfaced around the time of Will's kiss at HTS and they should have peaked around the time Will finally came out to Sonny. From there, Sonny should have been roped into the Will and EJ drama so he could observe Will's actions and start extracting himself from Will's mess. Then Brian's appearance earlier this month should have led to Sonny moving on to someone else while Will begins to notice Sonny's diverted attention. Will could then spend the next several weeks/months finally realizing everything going on with Sonny's feelings from the past few months as he competes with Brian for Sonny's affection. The framework for all of this was in place and it certainly wouldn't have been difficult to write it and layer it amidst what actually happened on screen. The lack of forward thinking and writing for these characters is pathetic since their coupling is far more interesting than numerous other twosomes on this show right now. |

I hope when Will and Sonny get together, there's at least some build to it, and while some would argue that there's been a ton of build towards it, there hasn't been any build where Will has shown his attraction to Sonny, we've seen maybe one or two or maybe three instances where Will has seemed to have some sort of feelings for Sonny but then it always went back to the gross EJ stuff, so I'd like some slow building to that, and by slow I don't mean snail pace, I just mean I don't want us to be coming back after the break and a week or two in for Sonny and Will to be kissing, like gah, no. Maybe they could write in a possible hook up for Sonny and jealous Will, IDK lol, I have no inventive ideas for what I want to see, I just know what I don't want to see. They could always show some flirty stuff with Sonny/Brian but I'm only down with that if it's a catalyst for Will and Sonny eventually. |

It is what it is. The old writers had no interest in Sonny nor Wilson. Just as they had no interest in writing anything compelling over the past year. I just finally want to see some guy-guy romance already. It's pathetic how asexual both Will and Sonny have been written since day one. Minus the kiss Will had with Neil, it's as if both guys are asexual. If written correctly Sonny and Will could very dynamic. They both come from core families that can go at it with each other. I would have to think Adrienne and Justin would be no be very keen on Sonny being with Will after they find out all the crap Will has done. Brian I bet is only on for maybe another couple of episodes since it seems like Brant taped a very limited stint. I found him pretty bland and saw no chemistry there at all between him and Sonny. I much preferred Dusin and Tyler if not Will. Down the line if the show is still around, which I doubt, they can bring back Sonny's ex or something. We don't know that with the snap of a finger Will and Sonny are going to be together. We just know they start getting closer end of August. So I am sure something happens with Tad/Brian where we see a build up from Will toward Sonny which we have only gotten moments of thus far. Edited by michr544125, Jul 28 2012, 03:30 PM.

Tad returns August 20th 2012 My thoughts I dont want Tad to be a closet case. Thats too predictable. Just let Tad be a bigot and thats it. It would be interesting though if Tad and Brian are in the same Frat. maybe even roomies. Maybe Brian is not out to Tad. Tad has no clue Brian's gay, That would put a spin on Brian coming down on Will on July 2nd. Tad could learn Brian's gay. He cant believe he has a gay roomie and so het attacks brian. However, no evidence so Sonny & Will set out to prove Tad's guilt. Edited by johnwalterseip, Jul 31 2012, 10:15 AM.

I would like to see maybe Tad have a change of heart and stop hating homosexuals. Showing that, how a learned hatred can be challenged by facts and knowledge, could be powerful. As Stephen Colbert said to Neil Patrick Harris, "You're the most dangerous thing of all. You're a gay person that I like." Days could do something different with it. |

I doubt it. Tomlin had a gay hate story planned for last fall before he left, so I bet he is just telling that story now. |

That would suck, imho. I really appreciated the way they got through the coming out story without hitting too many stereotypical points or making it a lesson in tolerance. And I'd really prefer a story with gay characters where the fact that they're gay doesn't really play into it as a plot point, especially on a show like Days which is an emotionally lightweight game of relationship roulette. So I sincerely hope they stay away from anything remotely resembling an afterschool special. Bring on a love interest, then the third leg of the triangle (although my ideal is for Will to be the psychotic third leg), call it a day. |

LOL! Will can be the male Sami with triangles and love interests! I agree that a gay storyline without it being the "gay" storyline would be great. Still, working in the schools I see so much "passive" homophobia in the teen population its scary. Homophobic slurs have become casual put downs, and while some kids would never attack a gay person physically the verbal attacks are there. I think it would be a great opportunity to reach these kids...then again it is a soap so maybe I am overthinking it. |

I don't think people can be reached that way, and I think it puts off some in the audience (like me). I'd rather TPTB not get confused and think that people don't want gay characters in romantic storylines just 'cause they don't want to be preached at via a soap opera, y'know? I totally get the intent. I just tend to believe that showing regular people who happen to be gay does a lot more good than anything more direct. |

This. And prior to being fired, Tomlin(w/ Higley as HW) did show some of his T/Homophobia vs Sonny storyline and what was shown was choke-full of After School Special PSAs, with T written so ridiculously that it was hard to take the character or his hate seriously. It was off putting. Days was making the same mistake that OLTL made (this doesn't include the writing of the interpersonal relationship between KISH because IMO that was interesting and soapy goodness), i.e., they preached at the audience. And in both instances, I found myself put off. Edited by badaddiction, Jul 31 2012, 12:54 PM.

I've been thinking, an interesting twist on the story could be that Tad is the one that gets bashed....by Brian! Like, Brian witnesses Tad giving Wilson a hard time, and decides it's time for some vigilante justice and bashes Tad to a bloody pulp to make some sort of statement. Wilson then have to investigate, despite the fact that they hate Tad, and eventually uncover that Brian did it. Brian goes to jail, and Tad eventually apologizes to Wilson and says he now realizes how foolish he was to give into hatred. So if Tad is bashed by Brian but evidence points to Sonny & Brian doesnt come forward with the truth. T doesnt remember seeing who it was but given their past peolice think Sonny could have done it. Now Sonny & will have to find out the truth |

I kind of liked Tad last summer. He made the younger scene far more interesting where at least he showed how connected the 20 something characters were. The actor is not the best but not the worst either. I think if they made Tad less campy, he could create a nice story for Sonny and Will and help connect all of the younger characters again. I have this feeling, Tomlin is beginning where he left off last summer and that was Sonny ready to take him down. We don't know if Tad is even around for a long time or just temporary. But I don't see why he'd be brought back if only for two episodes. They could use anybody. I just don't want to see a Glee redux with Tad being gay. We already had Will being closeted for months and just finally came out and that was a complete fail in the end after all the build up. Edited by michr544125, Jul 31 2012, 05:38 PM.

Tad returns on the 20th & we know there are scenes around the 27th with Tad, Will, Sonny & Brian because it also had Nick in it & he doesnt return til the 27th. So im thinking since Brant (Brian) is busy with other projects, maybe Tad does something to Brian and he ends up hurt, coma or dead but evidence doesnt point that way & Wilson have to Solve the crime OR Brian dies and it spurs Sonny into activist mode and that is the story that puts him in contact with most of the cast? |
